At camp, girls: * can play any kind of music they want... * create community, where girls support each other and learn to work together... * see positive role models and support for their creative endeavors... * build self-esteem, using music as the vehicle... * can help create social change to help achieve a more positive image of girls and women ... We are looking forward to seeing you this summer! Our dates for Girls Rock N Roll Retreat (G.R.R.R.) '10 have been confirmed for the week of July 12 and also the week of July 19. Our camp will be held at Perpich Center For Arts Education in Golden Valley, Minnesota. What is G.R.R.R? Celebrating our fourth year in 2010, this annual day camp (9am-5pm daily) offers 5 days of music lessons, playing in a band, art classes, exciting workshops and a big Friday night rock concert for girls ages 9-17. Our camp is offered to girls who play or want to learn electric guitar, electric bass, drums, or keyboards. We accept girls of all levels on each instrument, more details here! Because camp is offered for girls only, they find support and friendships with others who have the same desire as they do; to be appreciated, to find and nurture their inner talent through creativity and to have some fun! Camp is five days and is loaded with classes including songwriting, stage basics: using a microphone and learning stage etiquette, marketing, art class and of course instrument and band practice. Our teachers are all qualified, professional musicians. At the end of 5 days, our campers will have: formed a band, written original music, create logos and marketing for their band, improved their instrumental skills and will perform a concert for friends and family on Friday night! Girls Rock n Roll Retreat is a proud member of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, an international coalition of girl's rock camps! The Girls Rock Camp Alliance is an international coalition of organizations whose shared mission is to empower girls and women using the tools of music education to foster self-esteem and confidence. To this end, the GRCA promotes, strengthens, and expands services provided by its affilated camps. Want more details about our camp? Click here! |
